REDLAND, Ore. (AP) — At their Monday night hearing, Clackamas County planning commissioners may make a recommendation to county commissioners on the proposal for composting and a biomass fuel plant at Redland, about five miles east of Oregon City.
The Oregonian reports county staff planners are recommending a denial of requested land use changes. Nearby residents are worried about noise, traffic and the water supply.
The Clackamas Compost Products company wants to compost yard debris, food scraps and manure. It also wants to build a plant to convert wood wastes into biofuel.
Company representative Will Gehr says it’s a service the county needs and officials need to decide on a site.
