BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Colorado quarterback Tyler Hansen has undergone a procedure on his ruptured spleen and is expected to stay in the hospital for a couple more days.

Hansen was injured in Colorado’s 27-24 loss to Texas Tech on Saturday in Boulder when he ran an option play and was hit by a linebacker. University athletic officials said in a statement that Hansen had a CAT scan Tuesday and “this procedure was not unexpected.”

Hansen, a junior, is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Senior Cody Hawkins, the son of coach Dan Hawkins, took over after Hansen was hurt.

Colorado (3-4, 0-3 Big 12) plays at Oklahoma on Saturday.
