VIENNA (AP) — Four-time World Cup big air champion Stefan Gimpl of Austria won’t compete in the new freestyle snowboarding season.
The 30-year-old Gimpl told Austria Press Agency on Wednesday that he prefers working on a book project over the winter. The season starts in London on Saturday.
Gimpl said “it’s time to give the floor to younger athletes.”
Gimpl won nine World Cup events and took bronze at the world championships in 2009.
