CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Indiana Pacers have picked up the fourth-year option on the contract of swingman Brandon Rush despite his recent suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Rush will make about $2.9 million next season after Friday’s move, made before Rush sat out against Charlotte in the second of his five-game, unpaid ban.

Rush was the 13th pick in the 2008 draft out of Kansas. He started 64 games for the Pacers last season and averaged 9.4 points.
