No. 17 Butler pulls away for 90-70 exhibition win

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Matt Howard had 19 points to help No. 17 Butler beat Florida Southern 90-70 in their first game since their memorable run in the NCAA tournament.

Butler, which lost to Duke in the national championship game in April, has one more exhibition contest, Thursday against Hanover, before hosting Marian in the season opener on Nov. 13.

Ronald Nored had 14 points and five assists and Shawn Vanzant scored 11 for the Bulldogs. Howard also had seven rebounds in 23 minutes.

Andre Hawkins and Brandon Jenkins each scored 16 points for Florida Southern, which trailed 45-37 at halftime.
