Southern Utah takes 55-24 win over UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — Brad Sorensen threw for 397 yards and five touchdowns as Southern Utah cruised to a 55-24 win over UC Davis on Saturday night.

The Thunderbirds (5-4, 4-0 Great West) went up early in the first quarter when linebacker Blake Fenn picked off a pass by the Aggies’ Randy Wright and ran it 73 yards for the touchdown.

Sorensen went on to throw two scoring passes in the half, one each to Tysson Poots and Fesi Sitake, and ran in for one of his own. Southern Utah led the Aggies (3-5, 1-1) at halftime 31-10.

In the second half, Sorensen connected on touchdown passes once more with Sitake and twice more with Poots. He completed 30 of 36 tries overall.

Poots finished with 191 yards receiving on 12 catches.

The Aggies’ Wright threw for 278 yards and a touchdown but was sacked four times. Nick Aprile ran for 59 yards and two touchdowns.
