PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The birthday boy is missing, but Kyron Horman’s parents are holding parties to mark Thursday’s eighth birthday.

His father, Kaine Horman, told The Oregonian he’s doing something Kyron loves — regardless of where he is.

Kyron disappeared from his Portland school on June 4. A widespread search and investigation has failed to turn up any significant clues or official suspects.

Kaine Horman is hosting a party Sunday at a restaurant. Kyron’s mother, Desiree Young, is hosting a gathering with cake and ice cream Thursday night at a church in Medford where they will release red balloons.
