Dallas Cowboys aim to bust Super Bowl host jinx

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Call it a Super Bowl jinx or call it a fluke. The bottom line is the same: 37 Super Bowls have been held in an NFL stadium and the home team has never been involved.

The next championship is being held at Cowboys Stadium, and Jerry Jones has made no secret of wanting his club to be the first true home team in a Super Bowl. The Cowboys open the season Sunday at Washington.

Here’s how much history they’re up against: Only five teams with a chance to play at home in the Super Bowl have even made the playoffs. And of those, only two have won a game — the Dolphins in 1994 and in 1998. And they lost before getting to the Super Bowl early the next year.
