AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Gardner-Webb blocked an extra point and Juanne Blount scored on a 4-yard run in overtime to beat Akron 38-37 on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (2-0) trailed 31-17 after Akron’s Igor Ivelijic made a 48-yard field goal with 2:36 left in the third quarter. James Perry III, who finished with 125 yards receiving on 10 catches, caught touchdown passes of 4 and 13 yards from Chandler Browning to tie the game at 31-31.
