SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (AP) — David Guzman and Allan Aleman scored to lead the Costa Rican club Saprissa to a 2-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders on Tuesday night in a Group C game in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Seattle’s Leandro Gonzalez was sent off in the 38th minute, receiving a red card for a hard tackle on Jairo Arrieta. Saprissa capitalized on the man-advantage, with Guzman scoring in the 56th and Aleman finding the back of the net in the 81st minute.
Saprissa goalkeeper Fausto Gonzalez also made an important play in the 67th, stopping a penalty kick from Seattle’s Osvaldo Alonso.
After three matches, Saprissa has six points while Seattle has lost all three of its games in Group C.
