WASHINGTON (AP) — The NFL Players Association and the National Fraternal Order of Police have formed a partnership.
The police organization is showing support for all players in their efforts to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement. The CBA expires after the 2011 NFL season.
Chuck Canterbury, national president of the FOP said that “as the largest law enforcement labor organization in the country, I think it’s important that we show our solidarity with other labor organizations with problems similar to ours.”
NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith said his members are honored by the support. Smith added “it is important for everyone to understand the impact this agreement not only has on our game, but on the people (who) provide security for our stadiums and to our fans in all 32 cities.”
