GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida receiver Chris Rainey, kicked off the team after being charged with aggravated stalking two weeks ago, has agreed to a plea deal on a misdemeanor charge.
Rainey’s attorney, Huntley Johnson, says Rainey agreed to perform 10 hours of community service and undergo counseling. If Rainey completes those requirements and stays out of trouble for six months, the charge will be dismissed.
Johnson says Rainey is “thankful for the resolution.”
Rainey was arrested Sept. 14 and charged with aggravated stalking, a third-degree felony, for allegedly sending a woman a threatening text message.
Coach Urban Meyer says Rainey is not part of the team and won’t play Saturday against Alabama.
