LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky coach John Calipari thinks freshmen stars Brandon Knight and Terrence Jones should throw their names into the NBA draft. Calipari just isn’t sure Knight and Jones should keep them there.
Calipari said Wednesday the clouded NBA labor situation makes it difficult to project what’s going to happen. The collective bargaining agreement between the NBA Players Association and the owners expires on June 30, and there’s a chance league owners could lock out the players if a new deal isn’t reached.
Calipari says that makes it difficult to project where players could go in the draft. He says he’s urged Knight and Jones to enter the draft but not sign with an agent, allowing them to return to Kentucky next year if they choose.
