OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — George Karl wishes there was still an NBA team in Seattle.

The coach with the best winning percentage in SuperSonics history, who also led the team to its last appearance in the NBA finals, said Monday that he’s “a huge fan of Oklahoma City, other than you took my team out of Seattle.”

Karl’s Denver Nuggets are playing their first-round playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder, who were the SuperSonics before relocating from Seattle three years ago.

Karl says he believes Seattle still deserves an NBA team and he’s sad to hear that the city doesn’t seem to be moving closer to getting one.

Karl coached in Seattle from 1991 to 1998 and won 384 games, leading the SuperSonics to the 1996 NBA finals.
