BALTIMORE (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles have purchased the contract of reliever Clay Rapada and placed right-hander Chris Jakubauskas on the 15-day disabled list.
Rapada is 3-0 with a 4.22 ERA in 46 games over four seasons. That includes last year, when the left-hander pitched in 13 games with Texas.
Jakubauskas is sidelined with a groin injury. He allowed six runs in 7 1-3 innings after being summoned from Triple-A Norfolk on April 9.
To make room Monday for Rapada on the 40-man roster, the Orioles moved right-hander Justin Duchscherer from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL. Signed during the offseason as a free agent, Duchscherer developed hip soreness in spring training camp and has yet to make his debut with Baltimore.
