ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Erick Aybar is set to rejoin the Los Angeles Angels in time for their series finale in Texas.

Manager Mike Scioscia said before Tuesday night’s game that Aybar, out since April 3 because of a strained left oblique, worked out with Triple-A Salt Lake and was then headed to Texas. Scioscia said Aybar would be activated from the disabled list in time to be in the lineup Wednesday night.

Also Tuesday, left-hander Scott Kazmir threw three innings in an extended spring training game. Scioscia said Kazmir threw only fastballs and that his velocity picked up during the outing.

Kazmir gave up five runs in 1 2-3 innings in his only start before being sidelined by lower back soreness.
