DETROIT (AP) — Jeff Holm hit an RBI double and scored in Michigan State’s three-run first inning, helping the Spartans beat Central Michigan 3-1 on Wednesday night in the first college baseball game at Comerica Park.

The Spartans avenged a 3-1 loss to the Chippewas last month. Andrew Waszak (3-2) pitched seven innings for the Spartans, allowing a run and five hits with six strikeouts and a walk. Bryce Jenney pitched the ninth for his fourth save of the season.

Bryce Morrow (0-4) allowed three runs, but only one of them was earned. He gave up seven hits in eight innings, striking out three and walking three.

Michigan State has played — and won — a game in each of Detroit’s four major professional sports venues in a span of less than a year.
