CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Canadian skipper Derek Hatfield has finished second in the fourth leg of the Velux 5 Oceans race.

Hatfield arrived in Charleston about 7:30 Wednesday morning after sailing 5,700 miles from Punta del Este in Uruguay.

He was about 15 hours behind American and Charleston resident Brad Van Liew, who finished first in the leg Tuesday evening. Van Liew is also the overall leader of the around-the-world solo yacht race.

The fifth and final leg of the race leaves next month for France where the Velux 5 Oceans began last year.
