PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland City Council voted 4-1 Wednesday to move ahead with a streetcar extension to Lake Oswego, despite some misgivings over the cost of the $458 million project, which depends on federal funds.
The Lake Oswego council voted its approval Tuesday, and Multnomah and Clackamas counties and TriMet will make recommendations before a final decision this summer by the Metro Council.
The Oregonian reports construction could begin in 2015.
