BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Jason Pominville won’t play in Game 6 of Buffalo’s first-round playoff series against Philadelphia, leaving the Sabres minus their top two-way forward.
Coach Lindy Ruff declined Saturday to reveal the nature of the injury or a timetable for Pominville’s return, a day after he hurt his left leg in a 4-3 overtime win.
Buffalo leads the series 3-2 with Game 6 at Buffalo on Sunday.
Pominville was hurt late in the first period after colliding with Flyers forward James van Riemsdyk in the corner of the Sabres zone. As van Riemsdyk spun off the check, his skate came up and grazed Pominville just below his left calf.
Help is on the way as Ruff says forwards Derek Roy (torn quadriceps) and Jochen Hecht (upper body) are days away from returning.
