SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Celebrity chef Guy Fieri wants parents to prepare meals with their children every week, even if they don’t cook like a Food Network star.
The Northern California restaurant owner and host of several food and reality TV shows dropped by California’s Capitol on Monday to promote a resolution urging parents to cook with their children on Sundays.
It follows a resolution Fieri helped draft in 2008 labeling the second Saturday in May “Cook With Your Kids Day.”
Fieri, whose shows include “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives,” said parents should get children involved in every step of the meal. Doing so, he said, would bring families closer together and encourage healthy eating habits.
The resolution was adopted by the Senate 39-0 and now goes to the state Assembly.
