Man wounded in Newport taken to Portland hospital

NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) — Lincoln County sheriff’s dispatchers say a man wounded by a deputy in Newport was taken to a hospital in Portland.

There’s no word yet on the condition of the 22-year-old Troy Paul Holmes of Newport.

Police say he was shot early Sunday because he brandishing a knife at a market and could not be subdued with non-lethal force.
