BRIDGEPORT, Wash. (AP) — Friends of Bridgeport High School have until Friday night to vote online to bring President Barack Obama to speak at the school’s graduation.

Bridgeport is one of six national finalists in the 2011 Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge. The contest honors schools making progress in graduating students and sending them to college. Bridgeport is the smallest and most rural school among the finalists, so just getting everyone in town to cast a vote is probably not going to be sufficient to win.

The public will determine the winner through an Internet vote on the school videos posted online. Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn reminds Bridgeport friends that on the White House website five is the highest ranking and one is the lowest.

Voting is open until 8:59 p.m. PDT on Friday.
