SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Salem Hospital is cutting management jobs in an effort to save $10 million beginning July 1.
The Statesman Journal reports the first round of layoffs announced Thursday include eliminating one vice president and 15 other director- or manager-level positions, saving $3.2 million.
Three directors are moving into lower-level positions, and the rest will go through Salem Health’s redeployment process, seeking possible openings elsewhere in the organization.
Salem Health employs about 4,000 people. Salaries and benefits make up 51 percent of the hospital’s operating budget.
