BEIJING (AP) — China’s most decorated Winter Olympic athlete Wang Meng has been expelled from the country’s short track speedskating squad after a drunken brawl with her team manager.

China’s sports governing body said Thursday that the 26-year-old’s conduct violated the team’s disciplinary code and jeopardized the sport’s image.

She had been suspended after the July 24 incident at a summer training camp in the eastern Chinese city of Qingdao.

State-run Xinhua News Agency says Wang punched team manager Wang Chunlu after being criticized for failing to meet a curfew after a night out with five teammates.

China’s General Administration of Sport says male speed skater Liu Xianwei also was expelled for his role in the incident.
