CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Browns welcomed a most taxing part of practice with smiles.
Following a two-hour workout at Cleveland Browns Stadium, the entire squad delayed hitting the showers Saturday to sign autographs in the hot sun for appreciative fans on “Family Day”.
To football-mad Clevelanders, it was as if the 412-month NFL lockout as well as last year’s 5-11 record never happened. Their heroes were back, featuring new coach Pat Shurmur and a group of promising draft picks headed by No. 1 Phil Taylor and No. 2 Greg Little.
Cornerback Joe Haden mostly observed for the second straight day due to a tight hamstring, but was among the last to leave the nearly 30-minute signing session.
While new players marveled at the fans, Shurmur was pleased by the team’s progress and said running back Montario Hardesty could be back soon. Hardesty is recovering from knee surgery.
