BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Colombia’s soccer coach Hernan Dario Gomez has resigned following reports he struck a woman in a bar.

The Colombian soccer federation said in a statement Tuesday that Gomez “assumed the consequences of his acts.”

The widely reported confrontation took place Saturday at a bar in Bogota. Gomez said in a statement Monday he lost control and regretted what happened.

The federation said it will meet in the next 10 days but gave no indication when a new coach might be hired.
