MIAMI (AP) — Twitter sensation Logan Morrison may now have the most followers of any minor leaguer.
That’s small consolation after Morrison was demoted to Triple-A New Orleans. His agent, Fred Wray, was still trying to determine the reason for the move Sunday, hours after the Marlins announced it.
Morrison, who is in his first full major-league season, quickly developed into a fan favorite with his outgoing personality and Web wisecracks. He has 60,000 Twitter followers, but team officials believe his play would improve if he focused more on his job.
Morrison ranks second on the Marlins with 17 homers. But the former first baseman has struggled defensively in left field, and he’s batting only .249 after hitting .283 in 62 games as a rookie.
