TISZAUJVAROS, Hungary (AP) — American Gwen Jorgensen won the women’s Triathlon World Cup race Sunday.
Brent McMahon of Canada won the men’s event.
Jorgensen’s time of 1 hour, 59 minutes and 54 seconds beat Annamaria Mazzetti of Italy by eight seconds, with Russia’s Irina Abysova third. Jorgensen was 30th after the bike stage, but she went 33:49 in the run, 42 seconds faster than anyone else.
It was the first career World Cup race victory for McMahon, who finished in 1:48:16, passing Britain’s Aaron Harris on the last lap of the run and beating him by six seconds. Hungary’s Akos Vanek was third.
Both races in this northeastern Hungarian city covered a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 42.6-kilometer cycling leg and a 10-kilometer run.
