SYDNEY (AP) — Stock markets in Australia and New Zealand have opened little changed following a day of mixed results in global markets.

Australia’s benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index opened up 1.1 points at 4,305 on Thursday. New Zealand’s NZX 50 rose 7.75 points, or 0.2 percent, to 3,297.85 in early morning trading.

Stocks in the U.S. rose slightly Wednesday after several major companies reported higher earnings. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 4.28 points to close at 11,410.21.

Investor concern over Europe’s debt crisis led to an uneven performance in European markets on Wednesday. Germany’s DAX closed down 0.8 percent at 5,948, while the CAC-40 in France rose 0.7 percent to 3,254.
