CARSON, Wash. (AP) — The Skamania County sheriff’s office is investigating the death of a U.S. Fish and Wildlife employee who had been working on a fish survey in the upper Wind River in southern Washington.
Undersheriff Dave Cox said 47-year-old Mark Snepp of White Salmon, Wash., was found face down in the river Thursday afternoon after he became separated briefly from another employee also working on the survey.
Cox says Snepp was found in about two feet of water. He had been wearing a life jacket, scuba mask and snorkel for the work.
Cox says his office has requested an autopsy.
