EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The home of the Giants and Jets is going to be called MetLife Stadium for the next 25 years.
The New York-based insurance giant and the two NFL teams who co-own the stadium announced on Tuesday that MetLife has purchased the naming rights for the stadium, which will be the site of the 2014 Super Bowl.
Neither side disclosed how much MetLife paid for the naming rights.
MetLife chief executive Steven A. Kandarian said his company wanted to partner with a world-class venue that would expose its brand to even higher level.
The $1.6 billion stadium opened last year. It had been known as New Meadowlands Stadium while the teams sought to sell the naming rights.
