PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Members of President Barack Obama’s jobs and competitiveness council are meeting in Portland.

The group will meet on Wednesday to hear ideas from academics and the public on how to curb a shortage of engineers in the United States.

The public can submit questions on the White House website and on Twitter. The event is one of several being held around the country to guide the work of the council, which was created to recommend policy changes that would spur job creation.
