LONG BEACH — Four Washington beaches will be open for razor clam digging on Dec. 10.
The state Department of Fish and Wildlife on Friday gave final approval for digging at Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis and Mocrocks after marine toxin tests showed the clams are safe to eat.
Low tide will be at 6:30 p.m. No digging is allowed before noon.
“The upcoming dig will give folks a chance to take home some fresh razor clams in time for entertaining during the holidays,” said Dan Ayres, coastal shellfish manager.
Digging tentatively is scheduled for Dec. 22 and 23 at the same four beaches depending on the marine toxin tests.
The limit is the first 15 clams dug. Each digger’s clams must be kept in a separate container.
