DALLAS (AP) — A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press that closer Matt Capps and the Minnesota Twins have agreed to a $4.75 million, one-year contract.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Monday because the deal had not yet been announced.

Capps gets $4.5 million this year, and the contract includes a $6 million option with a $250,000 buyout.

A 28-year-old right-hander, Capps had 15 saves this year in his first full season with the Twins, who acquired him from Washington in June 2010.

Capps and Joe Nathan both closed games for Minnesota this year. Nathan, a four-time All-Star, left the Twins last month for a $14.5 million, two-year contract with the Texas Rangers.
