PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Authorities are trying to determine whether a shark bit a surfer Tuesday on the Oregon coast.

The woman surfing at Seaside suffered a bite to her leg and damage to her surfboard.

Seaside Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a shark attack. The department said in a press release that the woman, who police have not yet identified, had injuries that were non-life-threatening and they had not pinpointed what kind of animal bit her.

Witnesses told KGW-TV that the woman was brought to shore by another surfer and taken to a local hospital in an ambulance.

The surfboard had a piece missing from its underside.
