Baylor’s RG3 is Big 12 offensive player of year

DALLAS (AP) — Robert Griffin III is The Associated Press choice as the Big 12 offensive player of the year.

Baylor’s exciting dual-threat quarterback earned 14 1/2 of 17 votes from a panel of AP member sports reporters who regularly cover the league. Griffin, a contender for the Heisman Trophy, leads the nation in passing efficiency and accounted for 45 touchdowns during the regular season.

Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein got 1 1/2 votes and Oklahoma State’s Brandon Weeden got the other vote.

Oklahoma defensive end Frank Alexander was voted the Big 12’s top defensive player with 14 votes. He led the Big 12 with 18 tackles for losses and 8 1/2 sacks. Texas linebacker Emmanuel Acho got the other three votes.
