PERTH, Australia (AP) — Britain and Australia dominated the men’s 470 racing at the sailing world championships on Wednesday after organizers were on high alert following the sighting of a large shark near the course.
Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell of Britain won the three Blue fleet races, and Australia’s top-ranked Belcher and Page won all three Yellow fleet races.
Racing was canceled Tuesday because of severe electrical storms, and organizers put on extra aerial patrols and other precautions in place after a shark sighting.
There have been three fatal shark attacks in Western Australia since September.
