Pacific Park Runs, Saturday, Dec. 17, 10 a.m. — Choose among 1.5, 3, 4.5. or 6-mile runs. Race takes place at Pacific Park. Each lap of the park is 1.5 miles. The trail is mostly unpaved and it is a great surface to run on. Raffle at 11 a.m. so runners who cannot finish 6 miles in 60 minutes should run a shorter distance. Directions: It’s in east Vancouver. Come to the corner of northeast 18th Street and 162nd Avenue. Go east on 18th for one block. Turn right on 164th and go 100 yards to the parking lot. Ridgefield Little League registration open — Online registration now open for the 2012 spring season. Registration is open through Jan. 15, 2012. Breakaway Social Sports — Fall season of Breakaway Social Sports in Vancouver is underway. Leagues are for ages 18 and older. LITTLE LEAGUE

Little League’s main season runs March-July, including All-Star play. Some leagues offer fall ball programs. Little League is an all-volunteer program. In Washington, it is organized into 11 districts, two of which serve The Columbian’s readership area. Registration for the main spring-summer season is held in January and February for most leagues. Boundary maps for the leagues in those districts are available on the district Web sites (listed below).

Here is some basic Little League information:

— Most leagues offer baseball and softball. For 2012, baseball is for players ages 5-18 are based on the player’s age on April 30, 2012. Softball for girls ages 5-18 are based on player’s age on Dec. 31, 2011.

— Practices began in March and the Little League season runs through mid-June, followed by all-star competition.

— Little League is run by volunteers.

— Challenger Division. Battle Ground/Highlands, Columbia, and LaCamas are leagues that offer a Challenger Division for disabled players ages 20 and younger who live in southwest Washington.

Sunday, Jan. 1, 10 a.m. — Annual Hangover 5K Run. Start the new off with a brisk 5K run around the Fort Vancouver Barracks. This is a good time to renew your CCRC membership. Directions: Go east from 1-5 on Mill Plain Boulevard, then turn south on Fort Vancouver Way to Fifth Street. The run starts on Fifth Street. Restrooms may or may not be open. Peninsula Wrestling Club — Program is 40 years old and offers programs for all ages. Located at 700 N. Rosa Parks Way in Portland (about 10 minutes south from the Interstate Bridge). Practice hours are: 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and 8-9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Fall program is began in September. Youth Co-ed Indoor Soccer Leagues for ages 4 1/2 -5 and 6-7. Jan. 10 through March 8, 2012. Games are Tuesday or Thursday evenings at the Marshall Community Center between 5:30 and 8 p.m. Practices are once a week. Cost$62.

Youth Co-ed Flag Football Leagues for ages 7-9 or 10-12. Jan. 21 through March 17, 2012. Games are between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturdays at Marshall Park for ages 7-9 or at Hudson’s Bay High School for ages 10-12. Cost: $69.

Youth Co-ed Basketball Leagues for ages 5-6 1/2 or 6 1/2 -7. Jan. 21 through March 17, 2012. Games are between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturdays at Marshall Community Center. Practices are once a week. Cost: $43 for ages 5-6 1/2 and $71 for ages 6 1/2 -7. 8-foot high hoops.
