George Mason runs past Hofstra 87-68

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Andre Cornelius scored 22 points to lead George Mason to an 87-68 win over Hofstra on Wednesday night.

Cornelius had 16 in the first half on just six shots, including four 3-pointers, while Ryan Pearson added 13 of his 19 points and George Mason shot 55 percent from the field (17 of 31). The Patriots led 49-34 at the half.

It was the eighth straight win for the Patriots (18-5, 10-2 Colonial Athletic Association), who improved to 11-0 at home this season. The Pride (14-9, 8-4), who won eight of their first nine conference games, dropped their third straight.

Hofstra’s Charles Jenkins had 22 points on 8-of-20 shooting and the Pride cut the lead to 72-61 on a layup by Mike Moore (18 points) with 7:15 to play, but could not draw any closer.

Cam Long added 15 points and Isaiah Tate 12 for George Mason, which made 10 3-pointers and held a 45-29 rebounding advantage.
