SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. (AP) — A King County sheriff’s spokesman says a search for a backcountry skier believed missing in the Red Mountain area near Snoqualmie Pass will resume Thursday morning.

The search for a Seattle woman who apparently was skiing alone began Wednesday afternoon after another skier found her backpack and a glove. Sgt. John Urquhart says information in the backpack indicated the woman was expected to be at work Wednesday but she did not show up. Her car was located in a ski parking area near Interstate 90.

The spokesman says a King County sheriff’s helicopter saw ski gear and what looked like fresh snowslide activity off the back side of Red Mountain.

The search was suspended at nightfall. The woman’s name has not been released.
