PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Khalif Wyatt scored 18 points and Temple withstood a late rally by La Salle to earn a 71-67 victory Wednesday night.

The Owls (16-5, 6-2 Atlantic 10 Conference) won their third in a row and snapped the Explorers’ three-game winning streak. La Salle (11-12, 3-5) made a late charge, but came up short.

Temple led 61-47 when Lavoy Allen hit a jump shot with 3:17 left. But Aaric Murray hit two 3-pointers and Sam Mills made one to lead the Explorers’ 20-10 charge, which ended on Earl Pettis’ jump shot with 1 second left.

Allen and Scootie Randall added 14 points each for Temple,

Murray led La Salle with 22 points, while Mills and Tyreek Duren each scored 13 apiece.

La Salle enjoyed a 40-29 advantage in rebounding, which translated into 13 extra field-goal attempts. But the Explorers didn’t capitalize on that advantage, making the same number of shots as the Owls (25).
