Clark County District Court Judge Jim Swanger was appointed to the board of the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.

Gov. Chris Gregoire appointed Swanger to sit on the 10-member board, which coordinates the state’s traffic safety efforts with the goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2030.

Swanger replaces Judge Judith Eiler of King County, who is retiring.

Swanger was appointed judge in 2005 after serving as a court commissioner for six years. Earlier, he worked as a lawyer at the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office and in private practice.
