Texas State thumps Nicholls State 75-60

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Tony Bishop posted a double-double and Texas State opened with a 37-6 burst to put away cold-shooting Nicholls State 75-60 on Saturday.

Bishop scored 17 points and had 16 rebounds for the Bobcats (10-12, 5-3 Southland), who led 40-16 at the half.

Dantrell Thomas led the Colonels (11-9, 5-4) with 21 points and eight rebounds.

But Nicholls State struggled with its shooting, making just 35 percent of its shots (21 of 60). The Colonels made just 6 of 23 shots (26 percent) in the first half.

Anatoly Bose, one of the top scorers in Division I at 22.4 points per game, finished with 14 points for Nicholls State but was just 4 of 15 from the field.

Eddie Rios scored 16 points and Travis Jones added 13 for the Bobcats.

Nicholls State managed to cut the lead to 14 at 61-47 with 5:37 remaining but couldn’t get any closer.
