OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — A former assistant teacher at an Olympia child-care center has been arrested for investigation of raping and molesting a 5-year-old boy.

Court papers say 20-year-old Elisha Tabor turned himself in Thursday at the Thurston County sheriff’s office. Authorities allege the crimes took place at the boy’s home where Tabor was a live-in baby sitter.

The Olympian says Tabor quit his job at the Olympia Early Learning Center several weeks ago after a parent made an allegation against him. Center business manager Renee Dey says she does not know what the allegation was. Sheriff’s officers say they don’t believe anything happened at the school.

Court papers say Tabor admitted raping and molesting the boy during an interview with a detective, telling him he believes he is mentally ill.
