SHORELINE, Wash. (AP) — A King County sheriff’s spokesman says a 10-year-old Shoreline, Wash., boy suffocated when he got stuck in a 312-foot-high cardboard box nearly full of foam packing peanuts.

Sgt. John Urquhart says young Daniel Gocus was playing hide and seek at his house with friends on Jan. 28 when he wound up headfirst in the box, which was stored in a closet.

Deputies say Daniel wasn’t found for at least an hour.
