Cent. Connecticut State defeats Bryant 71-55

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — Ken Horton scored 23 points and had 11 rebounds to lead Central Connecticut State to its seventh consecutive victory, a 71-55 win over Bryant on Wednesday night.

Horton, who leads the Northeast Conference in scoring (18.6 points) and double-doubles with nine, also had six steals and six blocks to help the Blue Devils (17-7, 10-3) win for the 13th time in 15 games.

Central Connecticut State opened the second half with a 17-4 run to take a 48-35 lead on Robby Ptacek’s two free throws with 14:38 remaining.

Horton scored five straight points to push the advantage to 59-37 with 8:03 to play. Shemik Thompson’s dunk gave the Blue Devils their largest lead at 61-37 with 7:30 left.

Ptacek added 15 points, Joe Efese had 12 and Chris Baskerville scored 11 for the Blue Devils.

Matthew Lee scored 15 and Alex Francis had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Bryant (8-17, 6-7).
