NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — Dave Johnson scored 17 points, James Johnson added 15 and Quinnipiac held on Saturday for a 68-67 victory over Central Connecticut State, its fourth in a row.

The Bobcats (19-8, 11-5 Northeast Conference) survived Ken Horton’s 35 points for Central Connecticut State, including a last-second, 3-point try that missed. The teams are tied for second place in the conference with two games to play, and opened the door for Long Island to clinch the regular-season title with a win Saturday night against Mount St. Mary’s (Md.).

Quinnipiac opened its biggest lead on Ike Azotam’s layup with 12:20 left, at 52-42. But the Blue Devils (18-9, 11-5) rallied for a pair of one-point leads — 58-57, on Robby Ptacek’s free throws with 7:51 left, and 60-59 on Horton’s layup at the 7:07 mark.

The Bobcats reclaimed the lead for good on James Johnson’s jumper at 4:02, making it 64-62.
