AMES, Iowa (AP) — Diante Garrett scored 17 points, including a key layup in overtime, and Iowa State beat Nebraska 83-82 on Saturday to snap a 10-game losing streak.

Scott Christopherson added 14 points for the Cyclones (15-14, 2-12 Big 12), who handed the Cornhuskers a potentially crushing blow to their NCAA tournament hopes.

Toney McCray’s 3 with 2:14 left put the Huskers up 79-77 in OT, but Melvin Ejim quickly tied it with a jumper. Garrett then sliced through traffic to give Iowa State an 81-79 lead, and Scott Christopherson hit a free throw to make it 82-79 with 23 seconds left.

Lance Jeter had 27 points for Nebraska (18-10, 6-8), including a 3 with 3.4 seconds left in regulation to send the game into OT.

Jeter then airballed a 3 that would have tied it with 5 seconds left — though he added a late 3 off the glass.
