CHENEY, Wash. (AP) — Devon Beitzel scored 23 points and Elliott Lloyd blocked Glen Dean’s layup attempt with one second left to preserve Northern Colorado’s 75-73 victory over Eastern Washington on Friday.

Taylor Montgomery added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Bears (6-7, 2-0 Big Sky). Neal Kingman scored 13 points.

Jeffrey Forbes scored 21 points for the Eagles (4-9, 1-1), including eight during a late 10-2 run on which Eastern Washington tied it at 73 with 1:15 left.

After Beitzel answered with a floater in the lane with a minute left, the Eagles twice had chances to tie. But they missed free throws with 46 seconds left and again with 39 seconds left.

Beitzel tried to dribble out the clock but was called for a 5-second violation with 12 seconds left, setting up Lloyd’s block.

Dean, Cliff Colimon and Kevin Winford each added 13 points for Eastern Washington.
